Dragon Ball FighterZ has received a long-awaited patch, update 1.005, addressing the frequent crashing issues that players have been experiencing on consoles. Reports from the community suggest that the likelihood of crashes has significantly decreased, though some lingering issues remain. While the update has improved stability, it appears that certain problems, such as matchmaking-related crashes and controller compatibility, persist. Given that the developers have largely moved on to other projects, further fixes seem unlikely.

According to player feedback on Reddit, crashes still occur but are now less frequent. Users report that matchmaking can still cause occasional freezes, particularly in practice mode, and arcade sticks remain non-functional on PlayStation 5 despite the system supporting them for months. However, the primary issue causing crashes has seemingly been addressed, leading to a more stable experience overall. In addition to PlayStation 5, the patch was released for Xbox Series X/S, where the download size was notably large, approximately 9 GB.

Dragon Ball FighterZ Update 1.005 Patch Notes (Unofficial):

Bug Fixes

  • Reduced Crashes: The update significantly decreases the frequency of game crashes, particularly in matchmaking and online play.
  • Matchmaking Stability: While improved, there remains a 20% chance of crashes when matchmaking is active.

Known Issues

  • Practice Mode Freezes: The game may still freeze if matchmaking is running while in practice mode.
  • Arcade Stick Issues: Some players report that arcade sticks remain non-functional on PlayStation 5 despite the console’s support.

Dragon Ball FighterZ, developed by Arc System Works and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, is one of the most acclaimed fighting games of its generation. Originally released in 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, it later became available on Nintendo Switch. More recently, in February 2024, the game received updated versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, along with the implementation of rollback netcode.
